Why is this series called "Jungle"?

In March 2025, my wife suffered a stroke. After 14 days at Scheper Hospital in Emmen, she was transferred to De Horst rehabilitation clinic. De Horst is a very popular destination for patients with brain problems. Besides rehabilitation, they essentially select between people who can return home and resume their old lives and those who will be permanently placed in a nursing home and will therefore never be able to live independently again.

During my wife's stay at De Horst, two things struck me: First, the sad situation in this (closed) ward. People were "locked" in the ward all day and couldn't leave. And second, the dedication of the nursing staff. The nurses at De Horst do their utmost for their patients, day and night. However, the truth is that only a small percentage of patients recover completely.

I dedicate this series of candles to the staff at De Horst. These people are all so kind.
